Left out of this analysis is the fact that Nick was doxed on Twitter with thousands of people making jokes about going to his house and killing him. It was absolutely common knowledge for everyone involved at the time that Nick was fearing for his life due to Twitter refusing to enforce their stated rules on doxing and threats of violence. The right wing seems completely incapable of drawing a line in the sand on this issue in any meaningful way. It's always (no offense Richard but you're also guilty of this) a kind of weak, limp wristed acknowledgement of the hypocrisy without any actual serious attempt to DO something about it. There is no real moral rage in what is clearly a fundamentally morally corrupt situation. If the so-called right wing were serious, it would not accept this state of affairs and it wouldn't just have this attitude of learned helplessness ("this is just how it is, i guess"). These people hate you, they want to kill you, they openly harass you and want to terrorize you and inflict horror and fear of death into you, they do so in public with the implicit support of authority figures like Elon Musk etc. That is the problem. It's not Nick macing an antifa harrasser who decided to show up to his house knowing full well that she was part of a gigantic mob of people making threats of violence and intimidation against him because they are morally outraged and know they have the support to behave sociopathically and violently against someone that they know they can get away with basically violently assaulting (just like Spencer was punched).

There needs to come a time when the "right" actually grows a pair of fucking balls and stops fucking putting up with this shit.

Even if Nick pleads openly to the court without having any deal in place with the prosecutor he likely won't have to spend a day in jail. Misdemeanors like battery have a presumption toward probation in Illinois provided the defendant doesn't have a felony record.
